Cardiovascular Diseases

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are important global health issues because they have a huge impact on both the people lives and economy of many countries. These diseases apparently affect the heart and the blood vessels. They include coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, hypertension, and stroke among many others (World Health Organization [WHO], 2016). CVDs kill more than 17 million people in the world (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Although these conditions are preventable, they are the number one cause of global death issues. WHO (2016) further reiterates that apart from killing more than17.5 million people annually, CVDs account to 31% of the global death from coronary heart disease and stroke taking the lives of 7.4 and 6.7 million people respectively. Apart from being the cause of death, these conditions result in the loss of money when people are trying to treat them. Therefore, it negatively impacts the families of the sick, the health system, and the overall economy. Things become worse when a country loses human resources due to the devastating conditions, resulting in low economic productivity.

How Health Care Delivery Systems Work to Address Global Health Concerns

Health care systems take a huge part in working collaboratively to find amicable solutions to such issues. For instance, healthcare systems can work together on improving access to health services among the population. For example, physicians and nurses are supposed to educate their patients about the risk factors of CVDs and the appropriate things people can do to avoid these debilitating conditions (WHO, 2016). The United States Department of Health and Human Services (2016) states that policymakers and care providers should work hand in hand with their international colleagues in not only preventing but also treating disease condition so as to enhance world health. On the same line, health care systems should work together to ensure people receive health care information that can help improving health. Both CDC and WHO work together in providing the public with important information on various aspects of healthcare. Therefore, as a team, health care providers can contribute to the public health awareness.
