GM Products Are Beneficial for Human Health

The article by Verma et al. (2011) entitled “A Review on Impacts of Genetically Modified Food on Human Health” contains a study conducted to determine both positive and negative impacts of GMOs on human health. The study was qualitative in nature, whereby the authors reviewed all the available literature in relation to GMOs. Therefore, the main method of data collection was reviewing literature that is available on both positive and negative impacts of GMOs consumption on human health.


The study argues that GMOs increase human resistance to various diseases. Secondly, it states that GMOs are rich in nutrition hence helping individuals have access to a balanced diet. The study conducted by Anderson, Wachenheim, and Lesch (2006) entitled “Perceptions of Genetically Modified and Organic Foods and Processes” is aimed at showing the perceptions that people have towards GMOs. A quantitative research was conducted where respondents provided their view on the perceptions they have towards GMOs. Questionnaires were used as tools for data collection from the respondents related to the study. Additionally, descriptive statistical tools were used in the data analysis process. The study states that the majority of people are neutral concerning the benefits of GMOs. Apparently, the respondents are not quite aware of the risks that are associated with GMOs that makes most of the respondents impartial concerning the choice of the side.


However, they agree that GMOs have numerous tangible benefits on human health such as good nutrition among others (Anderson,Wachenheim, & Lesch, 2006). The biggest concern of the respondents is that information on the risks associated with the consumption of GMOs is not available to the consumers. The findings of the study are valid and reliable. The only problem of the study is that it is biased towards GMOs since it states that they are beneficial without taking into account the risks associated with them.
